To speak fairly, New Asia is okay. I go there for cheap/fast food. Their meal combos (serve all day) only cost 7-8 dollars and it comes with two appetizers (it used to be three). I usually eat half of it and take half of it home for next day lunch. I usually order bean curd and broccoli or basil chicken. Those are the "safe" dishes. I don't think the food is particularly good, but it certainly is filling.
One thing worth mentioning:
THEY HAVE THE BEST SCALLION PANCAKE and it only costs less than 4 dollars to have a serving (8 pieces). If you are a fan of scallion pancake, this is the place to go. I haven't got scallion pancake this good anywhere else in Boston.
Of course, if you want to sit down with your friend for a nice dinner, this is not the place to go. The Chinese restaurant at Harvard Sq has better food in general and their dishes are more authentic.
But remember: when it comes to SCALLION PANCAKE, New Asia is the winner.
Hope this helps. -

Let me say this frankly: This is the worst Chinese food I have ever had.
We ordered delivery, and the food arrived promptly, but it was uneatable. We ended up throwing it out because it was so bad. I'm not a Chinese food snob by any means. In fact, just before we ordered, we said that there isn't really "bad" Chinese food. We were wrong. Mooshi was terrible. Lo mein was actually Linguine, and sweet and sour sauce tasted like water and looked like chicken broth. I actually created a yelp account to help you not go here. -

I used to live a few blocks away and have never ever seen anyone actually eating here. (Pretty shocked at how many people have reviewed and looove it). Anyway, I've since moved down the street, and stupidly got delivery from here when I was too lazy to leave my house, not trusting the fact that I know this place is always empty and looks suspiciously front-like.
When I called the place, it sounded like a casino in the background. When it finally arrived, every item and bite brought me closer to getting diabetes on the spot.
Everything was fried and floating in sweet sauce. Like a whole jar of honey beaten with sugar,sweet...and topped with a slice of sugar cane, and sprinkled with rock candy and powdered sugar and lots of cornstarch and probably drizzled with corn syrup.
The empresses' "meat" pho chicken was hard and webby. Hot and sour soup tasted wrong, and the the dumplings tasted mysterious and were sprinkled with the hottest f-ing chile flakes on top, soo hot.. that it rendered the rest of it useless... simply just not good.
My fortune was: There is beauty in simplicity, Me thinks maybe this was not so simple! Me thinks it was not beautiful. -

MSG + Salt = Barf.
I couldn't even eat my entire plate of food from the buffet, and that's a terrible thing. I usually can put my husband to shame, with at least 4 trips back to the buffet, but today that wasn't the case.
Vegetarian items were extremely limited, not that I'm a vegetarian by any means, but sometimes a girl needs a little extra fiber in her diet, ya know? There were about 5 vegetarian dishes that had been extremely picked over, and all the veggies left in the dishes were loser veggies, like soggy eggplant and inexcusable things like that. I like my veggies crunchy, goddammit.
The meats were all a little too shiny and vibrantly colored. Brown glistening chicken and scarlet colored beef make not a happy tummy.
Worst part is I keep burping up the grease flavor. *shudder* -

Okay, so I admit it, the buffet food isn't all that great. None of my friends like it, so I have to go alone. I'm not really picky when it comes to Chinese buffets, so this is cool for me, and it's not unusual for me to go multiple times in a week.
However, as other reviewers have said, the veggies tend to be scarce, and those that are there are soggy and picked over (except the spicy green beans, which go so fast that they are usually fresh). The General Gau's chicken is rubbery and wirey tasting, so I pass on it.
WHAT'S GOOD: The fact that there are many different things on the buffet is a plus. The Kung Pao chicken is really good, as are the egg rolls, crab rangoon and tasty fried rice. They spicy green beans are quite tasty too.
They seldom have beef dishes on the buffet, but when they do, they are good. Hey, it's cheap. Whaddya expect????! I like it, it works for me!
P.S. If you dine in, be sure to leave a tip- $1.00 or whatever because they will ASK you for a tip! I know, I know. Tacky and rude, but again, it's cheap, all you can eat, and decent.
